During the month of October we studied the life cycle of pumpkins and learned how tiny seeds transform into beautiful pumpkins of all shapes, sizes, and colors! We learned the names for all the parts of a pumpkin! We enjoyed strengthening our math skills as we measured our pumpkin, experimented with objects that sink and float, and counted the pumpkin seeds by tens! We recorded the life cycle of a pumpkin to add to our fact books, baked pumpkin seeds,
baked pumpkin bread, and much more! We were busy bees!

We used cubes to measure how tall our pumpkin was and used links to measure the circumference. Here are Alex, Lilli, and Delvin measuring and recording on our pumpkin fact sheet.
Delvin recording how many cubes he counted as he
measured the height of our pumpkin.
Just a few of the wonderful books we used to learn
fascinating facts about pumpkins!
Hagood measuring with links.
Jaylen, Sadie, Christopher, and Gregory working hard! We had a discussion on how to measure the height...some friends thought we should measure to the top of the orange rind and others
thought we should measure to the top of the stem.
We decided to measure both ways!
Weston, Khamyren, and Sammy busy measuring and recording!
Isaac, Shamara, Rhett, and Julia hard at work!
Tyler, Christopher, and Isaac working on their Pumpkin Glyph.
Time to clean out our pumpkin!
Tyler was happy and ready to get his hands messy!

We look forward to many more ahead this year!
